Ad Set
The mid-level unit of a Meta campaign where audience, placement, schedule, and budget (in ABO) are defined. Ad sets contain individual ads.
An ad set is the middle level of Meta's campaign hierarchy: Campaign → Ad Set → Ad. It's where you define audience, placements, schedule, and — in ABO campaigns — budget. Each ad set contains one or more individual ads.
Ad-set-level decisions have outsized leverage. Changing the audience at the ad-set level tests a different go-to-market assumption; changing the creative within an ad set tests a different story. Conflating the two by changing both at once is the classic beginner mistake that makes optimization impossible to read.
