CBO
Campaign Budget Optimization — a single budget at the campaign level, split across ad sets by the algorithm. Best when you already have multiple proven ad sets.
CBO (Campaign Budget Optimization) is a Meta campaign structure where you set a single budget at the campaign level and let the algorithm allocate it between ad sets based on real-time performance. The opposite philosophy of ABO.
When CBO wins:
- You have 3+ proven ad sets (stable, consistent results), not early-stage tests.
- You want to minimize manual labor and let the algorithm lean into whichever ad set is hottest that day.
- You're scaling an account that's already past $300-$500/day in spend.
When CBO loses: early testing. CBO will starve new, unproven ad sets in favor of safer winners, which means you never learn whether the new test would have worked.
