Retargeting is showing ads to people who've already engaged with your store — visited a product page, added to cart, or started checkout but didn't buy. Because these users are pre-qualified by intent, retargeting ads typically run at 3-5x better ROAS than cold-traffic prospecting.
A typical retargeting structure:
- 1-day retargeting: Highest intent — people who ATC'd today but didn't buy. Use urgency and scarcity.
- 2-7 day retargeting: Warm — PDP viewers. Use testimonials, FAQ, and objection handling.
- 7-30 day retargeting: Cooler — all site visitors. Use storytelling and brand.
Retargeting isn't a scaling channel — you can't retarget more people than have visited. It's a conversion multiplier on whatever top-of-funnel you're running.
