MOQ
MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) is the smallest order a supplier will accept. AliExpress dropship sellers typically have MOQ 1 (you can order single units); Alibaba factories have MOQs of 100-1,000 units depending on the product; private-label manufacturers are usually 300-1,000 units for first runs.
MOQ is the gate between pure dropshipping and inventoried / private-label ecommerce. The upside of crossing it: better margins (30-50% cost reductions vs. AliExpress), custom packaging, faster shipping, and real brand control. The downside: you tie up capital in inventory, take on stockout risk, and inherit warehousing costs.
Most operators cross the MOQ gate once they've validated a winning product doing consistent $20K+/month in revenue — enough to justify the working-capital commitment.
